The story behind Moses, Joey & Moses Jewelers
Moses started out as a top salesperson in the pawn shop industry and quickly developed a love for jewelry. While in college he began working for a jewelry company in sales. His passion for jewelry grew and he decided to devote all his time to learning everything about jewelry. He quickly moved from repairs and sales to custom design. Over the next 4 years he perfected his trade by completing thousands of repairs and hundreds of custom designs.
He opened his first business in 1996 off West Avenue & IH 10 under the name Jeweltex. He completed a large amount of repairs for jewelers all around San Antonio and increased his custom design experience. Moses loved the artistry and the reactions of the customers. In 2003, Moses moved his jewelry showroom to the backside retail shops of Stone Oak Crossing. For four years, he was the greeter, marketer, watch repairman, jeweler and designer. In 2009 another door opened and Moses Jewelers moved to the front of Stone Oak Crossing, this provided for more opportunities to design, meanwhile, Moses achieved his MBA and graduated as GIA gemologist.
As technology has progressed Moses has embraced more advanced techniques of jewelry design, manufacturing, and production. He is one of only a handful of jewelers in the San Antonio area that does everything in-house. Moses’ son Joey Rodriguez joined his father in 2012 and has quickly become the main person responsible for CAD (computer aided design) and pre-production.
Joey is Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2010 and 2011. He was originally in UTSA but quickly learned his passion for jewelry design and production was the same as his father’s. He has been personally taught by Moses jewelry repair and is an integral part of custom design. Joey is mainly involved in the design and manufacturing of custom jewelry pieces. He has taken master classes on computer aided jewelry design and is hands on with the pre and post fabrication of all jewelry pieces. Joey’s and Moses’ vision is to create wearable works of art that turn heads and fulfill clients visions.
